hth compared to salt generation

The system of electrolysis of salt has been around for some time. Historically the system works by having an anode and cathode electrically charged in a brine solution. The hypochlorous acid that is produced is then discharged into the pool.

The system is heavy on maintenance and comparatively costly to operate over a period of time.

The total dissolved solids level must be monitored. The idea of using salt to generate chlorine is fascinating but drawbacks are inevitable.
